Message from Ambassador OKUDA Naohisa
I am Mr. Naohisa OKUDA, honoured to serve as the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Vanuatu.
After arriving at the first step into Vanuatu on the 8th of November 2023, I was able to present my credentials to His Excellency Mr. Nikenike Vurobaravu, the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, on the 9th of November 2023. I am sincerely delighted to be given an opportunity to work in this beautiful country, which is known for its unique culture interconnected with rich nature.
Japan and Vanuatu have established and maintained diplomatic relations for over 40 years and both countries have so much in common such as a deep respect for nature and appreciation for community and traditions. Furthermore, Japan and Vanuatu have both suffered numerous environmental disasters such as earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, and volcanic activities.
In light of this, fostering a mutual deeper understanding and enhancing the bilateral partnership between Japan and Vanuatu is crucial for the sustainable development of the shared Pacific region.
Given that PALM 10 will be held in 2024, I would like to seize this opportunity to enhance our collaborative ties in areas of mutual priority, including climate change, disaster risk reduction, and tourism.
With the support of all the Japanese nationals residing and visiting Vanuatu, Japanese companies and associations, we, the Embassy of Japan, are dedicated to collaborating with you all, and we highly appreciate your support and cooperation.
