The 61st Birthday Celebration for His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On February 25th, Ambassador CHIBA hosted a reception celebrating the 61st Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan at The Melanesian Hotel. The Embassy welcomed around 200 guests including His Excellency Pastor Obed Moses Tallis, the President of the Republic of Vanuatu and First Lady Madam Tallis as the guests of honor.
The speeches given by Ambassador CHIBA and President Tallis, followed by “Kagami-biraki”, which is to perform breaking open a wooden rid of sake barrel to pray good fortune and harmony. After the toast, all the guests were able to enjoy a selection of Japanese sake and wine from Japan, as well as a variety of Japanese cuisine.
