2026/2/13
On 4 February, H.E. Mr. OKUDA Naohisa, Ambassador of Japan to Vanuatu, and Ms. Sandrine Wallez, President of the Association of Alternative Communities Trade in Vanuatu Committee (ACTIV), signed a grant contract for a project to support the improvement of livelihoods for women micro-entrepreneurs in Port Vila.

The signing ceremony was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management, the Vanuatu Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Presbyterian Church.

The project will develop nine refurbished shipping containers and a market area to be covering approximately 1,100 square meters, enabling around ninety women entrepreneurs to resume their sales activities in a safe and hygienic environment.

This assistance will contribute to the restoration of livelihoods for women entrepreneurs affected by the December 2024 earthquake, as well as to the revitalization of the local economy.
