The Grant Contract Signing Ceremony for " The Project for the Construction of JUDO-JO for the Federesen blong Judo blong Vanuatu” under the Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects (13 November 2025)

On 13 November, Ambassador OKUDA Naohisa of Japan, President Mr. Nicolas Monvoisin of Federesen blong Judo blong Vanuatu and Ambassador Jean-Baptiste Jeangène Vilmer of France, together with Mr. Iati Bergman, Director General of the Ministry of Justice, Youth & Community Services representing the Government of Vanuatu, attended the signing ceremony for the construction of a new Judo-Jo (Judo Hall) in Port Vila.
The project is a tripartite cooperation initiative among the Vanuatu Judo Federation, the Japanese Embassy in Vanuatu, and the French Embassy in Vanuatu. It is to construct a new judo training facility through Japan's Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects, with the French Embassy providing solar equipment. The new facility will provide judo athletes with a safe and resilient training space, particularly as a replacement for the former facility damaged in the 2024 earthquake.
The Vanuatu Judo Federation expressed its deep gratitude for the support of the Government and people of Japan. The French Ambassador praised Japan’s commitment to developing human resources in Vanuatu through support for Judo, noting that France is proud to collaborate with Japan in these efforts. This project stands as a symbol of the strong partnership between Vanuatu and Japan, together with France.
