On Friday, November 7, the Embassy of Japan hosted a Japanese cuisine demonstration at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT), led by Ms. Yoshiko Hondo, the Ambassador’s Official Residence Chef.
The event consisted of two sessions.
In the first session, Ms. Hondo, together with VIT students, prepared several popular Japanese home-style dishes, including Chicken Nanban, Onigiri (rice balls), and a vegetable soup made with dashi (Japanese soup stock).
In the second session, Ms. Hondo conducted a hands-on workshop with professional chefs from hotels and cafés in Vanuatu, creating vegan tarts, matcha cream using Japanese green tea, and traditional Japanese custard pudding.
Participants actively took notes and asked many questions throughout the sessions, contributing to a lively and successful event.
The Embassy extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who took part in the lecture & demonstration and to the Vanuatu Institute of Technology (VIT) for their kind cooperation and support, especially in providing the kitchen facilities.
