Launching Ceremony of International Organization for Migration (IOM) - Migration Information and Data System (MIDAS) project(14 November 2024)

On 14th November, Ambassador Okuda delivered a speech at the launching ceremony of International Organization for Migration (IOM) - Migration Information and Data System (MIDAS) project at Santo International Airport. MIDAS is a border management information system, which enables the border control authority to collect, store and analyze travelers' information in real time and across an entire border network. Through the concerted efforts of Department of Immigration and Passport Services, other Vanuatu key government agencies, IOM, and Japan, MIDAS is now in place at airports and seaports of Port Vila and Santo.
Mr. Jeffery Trief, Acting Director-General, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Jeffery Markson, Director, Department of Immigration and Passport Services, Mr. Bridley Livo, President, Sanma Provincial Government Council, and Mr. Carl Adams, Head of IOM Vanuatu Country Office were also present at the ceremony.
